‘Modulator’ is the final single from plantoid before their debut album Terrapath releases via Bella Union on February 2nd. Guitarist Tom Coyne describes the track as “The calm, the storm, the peaceful ending” adding that “the track explores themes of honesty to oneself,” an ideal supported by the band’s decision to record the album live with minimal overdubs. With virtuoso producer Nathan Ridley at the helm, this is the sound of a band at the peak of their powers, of poetic vocals elevating an impossibly tight rhythm section. Jazzy and psychedelic, plantoid glide along smoothly before opening wide into blissful nebulas of explorative guitar solos and cosmic synth passages, eventually kicking into hyperdrive and modulating into a new space altogether. -Adam Brown
